Style Matters doesn’t like tattoos, no matter the size or location. They are low-class. The last time we wrote about tattoos, we received death threats. Despite our views, the tattoo trend continues, and nearly one-quarter of of Americans 18 to age 50 are tattooed. Gross! Nearly 20 percent of women who are tattooed have them on their lower backs. The potential problem is that when you are delivering and have an epidural, there could be complications from the needle picking up some of the ink from the tattoo on your back and being injected into your body. Some doctors recommend asking the anesthesiologist to go around the tattoo. The FDA is still studying whether there are adverse reactions to tattoos. Another reason to nix tattoos.
