“Desperate Housewives” story line — Politically Incorrect?

Are you “Desperate Housewives” fans? We are. The newest story line has Eva Longoria’s daughter, played by Madison de la Garza, bursting out of her clothes due to a huge appetite. The girl is definitely chubby and of course this appalls the image conscious Gabby. Ricardo Chavira, who plays her husband Carlos, has gone public with his criticism of what he considers to be an insensitive handling of this topic. Chavira told Us Weekly: “Seeing it in my family and considering the childhood obesity issues in the United States right now, should we be making fun of it?” Ah….yes. Maybe not making fun of it, but obese children are looking at health problems that will plague them all their lives. Shouldn’t we be calling attention to this issue? We applaud the DH producers and writers for exposing an issue that is growing larger every day. Pun intended.
