Dr. Siegel’s Cookie Diet
June 24th, 2009
The minute that I heard I could lose weight by eating cookies, I’m on-line looking for the easy fix. I ordered my coconut diet cookies and couldn’t wait to start shedding the 5 lbs. I swear every summer I will lose. You eat up to 6 cookies (500 calories) a day with a glass of water when you fill hungry and then a 900 calorie dinner.
The good:
1. The cookies don’t taste bad, but they aren’t great so I don’t want to eat the whole package (my problem with Skinny Cow ice cream treats, I can eat 6 at one sitting).
2. The cookies are dense so as I chew, I do feel satiated and they do kick the hunger.
The reality:
1. I could probably eat six small apples a day with a glass of water, a 900 calorie dinner and lose weight. So I tried doing this. I felt equally satiated. But got tired of the apples before I got tired of the cookies.
2. I lost a few pounds in five days and gained it all back after one large Mexican meal with dessert. Oh well.
Bottom Line:
1. The cost is about $59/week, so if you are in a hurry to drop a few pounds to squeeze into your LBD, it’ll help. But if you want long term weight reduction, then you need to eat less, excercise more and have will-power . . . I’m lacking all three of these elements.
