Two makeup foundations that really work
August 14th, 2009
Style Matters jumped on the whole Bare Escentuals mineral makeup powders years ago. We quickly gave it up. Why? The loose powder got all over everything in our bathrooms. We got sick of cleaning our bathroom counter tile grout, which quickly became stained. But, we did love the coverage. Fast forward to mineral makeup that comes in pressed powder. Now there’s a brilliant idea. We like the double compact mineral makeup by Sephora. It goes on smoothly and subtly with no muss no fuss. You can build up the coverage as completely as you like. It has SPF 10 and costs $22, compared with Bare Escentuals at $25.
If you don’t like powders, try Clinique’s even better makeup, SPF 15. Believe it or not, I first tried this foundation as a magazine sample. I was sitting at the hair salon, reading a fashion magazine and saw the sample card. I pulled open the tab and smoothed the cream under my eyes. Wow, all the wrinkles seemed to go away and the tone under my eyes evened out. I bought some, $24.50, and sure enough, my skin tone evened out, but still looks natural, no unflattering pancake look at all.
