Make a tailor your new best friend
October 21st, 2009Have you picked up your copy of ColoradoView magazine yet? It’s the newest magazine for women to hit the Colorado market. My copy arrived in the mail today. Want to subscribe? Go to www.coloradoviewmagazine.com. Style Matters has an article in the mag. all about creating a fall fashion wardrobe on a budget. The story is filled with great tips and secrets for stretching your wardrobe dollar. One of our best tips is to find a talented tailor and use them to help you update old favorites. We are not the only ones who are recommending tailors. Alterations experts around the country are starting to see a new trend: customers who come in to tweak clothes they already own.
Here are some additional tips courtesy of Allure magazine:
1. When trying on clothes, make sure to wear your best fitting bra.
2. Run two darts up the back of a dress to help shape it.
3. Lift the shoulders of a sleeveless dress to tighten the armhole and make your arms look slimmer.
4. Narrow the sleeves on a jacket to also slim the arms.
5. Sew the pockets shut on slacks and jackets to eliminate bulges and creat a smoother look.
