Judie & Evelinda- I am not sure if you have heard about File N Style yet. I shop all over
Denver metro and found this wonderful little boutique/salon through Life on Capital Hill. I stopped by and tried a pedicure. I was very impressed with their great prices, elegant décor, and use of non-resin bowls (very sanitary). They use fresh flowers and soothing peppermint lotion as part of the pedicure process. I’ve been getting pedicures for years and this was the best I’ve had to date. The shop also has unique clothes and accessories that are trendy and affordable. They also offer air brush tanning at very low rates. The air brush tanning has become the latest addition to my beauty regiment. I love knowing I can get quality services and that I don’t have to sacrifice my health, safety, or pocket book.
File N Style,

Best,
Nikki
Dear Nikki,
What a small world, just a few weeks ago we heard about File n Style and interviewed the owner for an upcoming nail story in our Rocky Mountain News column. Our column runs every Thursday in the Spotlight section, or go to this website’s home page and you will find a direct link to our column. Thank you for sharing the information.
Stylish readers, please share your new boutique and/or beauty finds with all of us by posting your comments right here!

Hi Evelinda and Judie,
I have an 80s party coming up and I’d prefer to shop in Denver instead of online, if possible (a great excuse to grab a couple girlfriends and make a day of it). Rather than just go poking through random thrift stores I wondered if you knew of any great vintage shops that would have some fun and funky 80s clothes?
Thank you!
Rachel
P.S. I LOVE the Style Matters column!
Dear Rachel,
The thing with vintage shopping . . . you never know what’s on-hand at the moment. You may have to hit several. We like to go snooping in the Capital Hill area (along 13th between Washington and Sherman). This is a fun area to lunch and meet a diverse crowd. Step into The Buffalo Exchange, FashioNation (sells new clothes that are music inspired) and then forget the theme and splurge on a new ring at Pandora’s (affordable green store). The store owners/emloyees in this area may know where to direct you if you don’t find any 80s Spandex.
Have fun!

Dear Judie and Evelinda:
Several weeks ago on KOSI, a discussion about the best blow dryer was announced. I would like to know which dyers were part of the sampling and which one was your top choice. I wrote down the T3 Tourmaline, I believe. Could you please give me the specifics of your findings. Thank you!! Enjoy your columns.
Jill
Dear Jill,
We think the KOSI conversation was about Valentine’s Day gifts and the Bespoke T3 pink blowdryer and flat iron. We have reviewed a variety of blowdryers over the years, from cheap to expensive, but after a certain period of time, we no longer keep the columns. The particular coversation you heard was about the great pink color and how much we personally love this product. We discovered the T3 wet-to-dry flat iron and blowdryers at Fashion Week in New York. They are light, dry fast, leave you hair silky smooth, and reduce frizz. Here is their website: ttp://www.t3micro.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=18
Good luck in your search and let us know what you think of the T3.

Dear Evelinda and Judie,
I just bought a royal blue dress at JCPenneys. It is sleeveless, tea length, and styled after the 30’/40’s vide. What shoes do I pair with this dress? I’m taking it on a cruise in April and also thinking about wearing it for Easter. Can you wear black shoes with it, or should I go with a flesh or taupe colored shoe? Please help. Thanks,
Alexandra
Dear Alexandra,
You can ususally wear black shoes any season, but it’s spring and let’s enjoy the season. Bone/neutrals and over-the-top color will be the rage in footwear and purses this spring and summer. Buy a colorful pair of sandals for your cruise (you’ll be able to wear them with other outfits) and enjoy. For Easter Service, wear bone/nude shoe with sheer hose. Look for a shoe with an unusal heel for your Easter Service. The dress sounds wonderful and we hope you have a great time.

I was at the Mile Hi Church Tea Talk when you spoke last Sunday. I purchased one of your books but didn’t have to time to stay and talk to you. I would love to have the name of the tailor you mentioned in your presentation. I would appreciate if you could e-mail me his name and number.
Thanks,
Mary Francis

Our new favorite tailor is located at Arapahoe and Dayton, around the parking lot corner from Vitamin Cottage. Ask for John or Elias at United Custom Tailors, 303-662-1000. Please mention Style Matters, Judie and Evelinda.

Hello,I attended your workshop this past Sunday at Mile High Church and enjoyed it. Although I didn’t purchase one of your books, I wish that I had; do any of the boutiques or stores have them available to purchase?
Sincerely,
Cathy
Cathy,
We are so glad you came to the seminar. The book is available at participating boutiques. We don’t know where you are located, but here are some ideas:
Mariel’s: Larimer Square; Molly’s of Denver: downtown, Barbara & Co.: Tamarac Square; The Perfect Petal: Highlands area. It is also available at major bookstores such as Tattered Cover, Borders, Barnes & Noble (not on-line for them); you can buy it at our website at www.stylematters.us.

Hi,
You mentioned trench coats this week in your column - but where do you find them? I have looked at Macy’s, Dillard’s, and J.C Penney’s (all SW Plaza) and noone had them. I am looking for my mother-in-law who is 92 and doesn’t want to pay a lot of money for one(i.e. not Nordstroms, Saks etc.) - we will check out the one pictured at Old Navy(maybe I’ll even try Target) Any suggestions? Thanks.
Susan
Dear Susan,
You don’t give us your mother-in-law’s size or taste (conservative, young at heart, classic, etc.), so here are some ideas: Definitely look at Target, Kohl’s, Burlington Coat Factory, Sears, Marshall’s, Ross Dress for Less and TJ Maxx. We suggest you call the Penny’s, Macy’s, Dillards and Nordstrom’s Point of View Department at Park Meadow’s. The Point of View Department has a more reasonable price point. We find that the Park Meadows’ stores have a broader selection than Southwest Plaza; phone calls will save you the drive. By the way, all numbers and addresses are listed in our book.
If she is a smaller size and likes to be current in her fashion, don’t overlook Forever 21, Old Navy, Limited and Express. Again, you can call them before you drive around.
It’s wonderful to know that at 92 we will all still be fashionistas! Good luck.

Hi,
A few months ago you printed your recommendations for mascara & eyeliner. I’ve since lost the article & want to purchase your recommendation. What were the brands?
Thanks,
Linda M.
Dear Linda,
The column you mentioned ran in December, 07. On our website there is a link to the RMN and all of our columns, here’s what you are looking for:
Maybelline Define-A-Lash, lengthing mascara, $6.49; Cover Girl Exact Liquid Eyeliner, $5.89. Both at Target.

Hi
I am looking for a place to go to get a very good fitting for a couple of good bra’s now that I’m 50!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for your help.
Sharla
Dear Sharla,
All women need to be fitted yearly, because our bodies change frequently. Nordstrom has fitters; Dillard’s and Macy’s bring them in for special events (call them for information). Most good lingerie stores also have fitters. We have tried and like Pampered Passions on County Line Road. Alicia is the owner. Good undergarments will make all of your clothes look better. Good luck.

Hello ladies,
I really enjoy reading your column and appreciate your great advice!!
I am a 41 year-old 5′7″ size 2 gal. I don’t fit “Chico’s” or “Coldwater Creek” clothes (appropriate for my age?), but I’m afraid to wear the “young” clothes that fit because they are not quite age appropriate either (too low cut or revealing).
Can you give me any resources for finding clothes that fit but are appropriate for my age? I would be happy to sit in on a seminar or have a consultant help me dress myself now that I have crossed the “40″ threshold.
Thanks for any words you can offer!
Sincere thanks,
Michelle
Berthoud, Colorado
Dear Michelle,
With your body type you can wear anything. We are currently running a promotion with KOSI 101 radio (register at http://www.kosi101.com/) for the Style Matters Look Great in 08 promo, which includes your Style Matters gals as your personal shoppers and a $2,000 budget!
Most every top out there is too revealing, so you always have to wear a cami, or check out our tank top advice on our blog. Layering becomes key at a certain age. You can layer with sweaters, jackets, blouses or tunic tops (see example above).
You don’t write about your pesonal style, but living in the mountains we are assuming that it is casual. What about skinny jeans tucked into boots with long cozy sweaters or blouses with jackets? In the summer, switch to dresses with some sort of sleeves (or layer with light jacekt) and sandals. There are many options out there, the key is to not reveal stomach, lots of bust, or wear minis.
For current clothes at a mid-range price point, try the INC department at Macy’s or the Point of View department at Nordstrom. Both stores provide personal shoppers at no additional cost. Call them to inquire about this service.
Most of our seminars are private events; you can organize one in your town. Public events are listed on the calendar page of this website. We do have some that are coming up and hope to see you there.

Wow! How fun, definitely take her to the “young adult” stores. We saw a cute trench today at Cira’s in The Pavilions.
